It takes years to build a brand and it’s not a surprise that some of the most popular brands in the world right now are worth so much. Tech giants like Apple and Microsoft, in particular, are leading the line but there are a few other noteworthy companies. In this post, we will give you a list of some of the most valuable brands in the world.
Our analysis is based on data released by Forbes documenting 100 of the world’s most valuable companies. The report simply estimates how much in monetary terms a company’s brand contributes to its revenue. It also focuses on companies that have a huge presence in the US.
The list this year is largely dominated by tech companies. As a matter of fact, there were 3 companies that had a brand value of over $100 billion and all of them are tech giants. In addition to this, 6 out of the most valuable brands in the world are also tech companies. Apple leads the way with its brand value estimated at $205 billion. The smartphone giant is in fact 4 times more valuable than the most valuable non-tech brand which is Coca-Cola. The beverages conglomerate has a brand value of $59.2 billion.
In addition to this, the list of the top 5 most valuable companies has remained unchanged compared to the same time last year. The top 10 list has not changed that much either. Compared to last year, we have only seen the entrance of two new companies.
Well, without further ado, here are ten of the most valuable brands right now.
- Apple (Technology): $205.5B
- Google (Technology): $167.7B
- Microsoft (Technology): $125.3
- Amazon (Technology): $97.0
- Facebook (Technology): $88.9B
- Coca-Cola (Beverages): 59.2B
- Samsung (Technology): $53.1B
- Disney (Leisure): $52.2B
- Toyota (Automotive): $44.6B
- McDonald’s (Restaurants): $43.8B
We have also seen a few brands make some gains over the past twelve months. Amazon leads the way after it increased its band value by almost 37% in the past year. Others that have made the top five list of the most improved companies include Netflix with a jump of 34%, Google with a jump of 27%, and Adobe with a jump of 27%. Unsurprisingly, four out of five companies in this list are also in tech.
The domination of tech companies is not going to change anytime soon. The Forbes data shows that among the top 25 most valuable brands in the world, 11 are from the tech industry. The automotive industry follows a distant second with just 3 while financial services have only seen one entrant into the top 25 list. There is however some hope though for non-tech brands. Coca-Cola and Disney have been able to stay in the top ten for yet another year. It may be a sign that sometime in the future non-tech brands may also crack the top ten and stay there. Besides, Gucci, another non-tech firm, has also seen a brand value increase of 24%, which is quite impressive.
